Foundations for Play Based Therapy
22nd Annual Family Counseling Center Conference
In this 60 minute “Play-shop”, we will be exploring the inner landscape of our bodies, the external movements of the body, discovering our own sensations, images and more, through being curious, observant, and playful. The main goal of this time is to have a base for sensing interoception, moving gently and enjoying ourselves. It is so important to engage in curious play about our internal sensations in a pleasant way!
Agenda & Activities
- Exercise 1: Orienting to room, sensing of self-post lunch; body, energy, breath, sensations with focus on deactivating and resourcing. Debrief and sharing.

PARTICIPANT OUTCOMES
By the end of this Somatics Play-Shop, participants will be able to walk away with 2 exercises to help ground and center their energies, be able to identify more internal signals of both activation and deactivation, have one exercise to wake up their energy and body and, hopefully, be able to say that they enjoyed the presentation and have new tools to positively support themselves and the clients and families they work with.
